The "bit" stands for bitcoin, "rawr" means "i love you" in dinosaur language. This is Bitrawr. A project I've been working on for about 6 months now in an attempt to map the entire landscape of Bitcoin. From exchanges to wallet, mining to ATMs, it's all here. Let me know what you think!

MAPPING BITCOIN ATMs AROUND THE WORLD

MAPPING BITCOIN ATMs AROUND THE WORLD
Every day thousands of changes occur, many gradually influence our way of life, this highlights a lot in the digital area, and at this moment the cryptocurrencies are leading the digital transformation by being an alternative means of payment to the current global financial system.
To get into this issue we must remember that cryptocurrencies are a type of digital currency, which has the same validity as a physical currency, but with the difference that it is not managed or regulated by a government or institution, it is a decentralized currency.
Currently, it is possible to pay in cryptocurrencies for some goods and services, so Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency ATMs were created; This method of payment has been widely accepted and therefore some countries are evaluating the use of cryptocurrencies as a means of payment for taxes.
What is a Bitcoin ATM and how does it work? A Bitcoin ATM is a machine connected to a bank computer that allows the customer to perform certain banking operations using a card. Likewise, when we talk about a cryptocurrency teller we mean a deposit of money, to obtain a deposit in the wallet (digital wallet) in the requested cryptocurrency.
Its use is relatively easy, the first thing is to enter the money, then a QR code is received and this is entered in the wallet where you want to receive the cryptocurrencies.
According to the Coin ATM Radar portal , the countries with the highest number of Bitcoin ATMs installed are the United States with 3896 ATMs, Canada (716), United Kingdom (275) and Austria (193). On the other hand, North America owns more than half of the world's Bitcoin ATMs with 76.3%. Then Europe follows with 19.6%. In the last place is the African continent with 10 ATMs, representing only 0.2%. On the other hand, in Latin America the countries that stand out are Colombia with 57 ATMs installed, Panama with 12 ATMs and Argentina with 9.
The future is uncertain with the world of cryptocurrencies, but for now it has shown great acceptance by the public since its creation in 2009. Many think it could be the new bubble, but while other people think it is the currency of the future , Decentralizing traditional currencies and creating a transparent process through the use of blockchain technology, what is certain is that such technology can be applied in other areas in order to store and protect user data.

Whats the deal with ATMs? I live in Japan. The closest [one in Osaka is]1 selling BTC for like 20% over market value AND 12% fees.
I thought Japan was all about some BTC.
The ones in Tokyo are a little better with around 6 to 10% fee.
I really don't get it. I just read an article about how Japan is the new king of of BTC beating out China in terms of total volume trades. Yet there are only half a dozen ATMs and half a dozen cash serivce places. Yet a place like Lithuania has over 70 cash/ATMs services. What am I missing here?

What do you think is a reasonable Bitcoin ATM Commission?

After looking at the post about Toms Hardware doing a hands on review with the new Lamassu Bitcoin ATM, it got me thinking about what would everyone would think is a decent commission rate. Would the same rate as a normal bank ATM be ok, or would you want it lower? Percentage, or flat rate such as using an ATM not associated with your bank?
Keep in mind that the ATM costs a cool $5,000 for orders of 1-4, and only lowers slightly for bulk. Lamassu ATM's can be found here: https://lamassu.is/

What is needed to get a bitcoin ATM up and running? Can you buy one? Where to start?

I was wondering what it would take for someone such as me to find a retail location that will allow me to install a BTC ATM, I then purchase the ATM, or build it.......
Is this possible?
